Colorado Avalanche: opportunity knocks.

The Colorado Avalanche had a downright awful season last year. Once again, there’s a lot of room for rebounds. The Avalanche more than a lot of other teams have that huge offensive potential, that has yet to be realized. As a result, many of their players may fall under hockey pool radars.  The problem with the Avalanche is that they keep losing top end offensive talent. They lost Paul Stastny a couple of seasons ago, and this off season they lost Ryan O’Reillly.

Anyways, here are my top sleeper picks for the Colorado Avalanche:

Matt Duchene: His numbers last year were not good. However, they improved quite a bit through the second half of last season. The first half of the season, however, was really bad. A lot of GMs who weren’t paying attention to his late season surge may pass him over.

Nathan MacKinnon: He had a sophomore slump last year, but should rebound nicely. This guy has the talent to be a PPG player in the NHL.

Seymon Varlamov: A lot of people are blaming Colorado’s woes last year on their goaltending. However, the bigger problems seemed to be with overall chemistry. Varlamov actually put up pretty descent Save Percentage numbers. Varlamov was tied for 12th among goalies who played 35 or more games.
